fundamental duties

 

Fundamental Duties did not form part of the constitution. Ten Fundamental Duties were inserted in Part IV of the constitution 42nd Amendment Act, 1976. Some of the important Fundamental Duties are:
(1) To abide by the constitution and respect the ideals and institutions, the national flag and the national anthem;
 (2) To uphold and protect the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India;
(3) To defend the country and render national service;
(4) To protect and improve the natural environment;
(5) To safeguard public property and to abjure violence.
